FlagsPosted by Shrigley Photography (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States) on 20 January 2009 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio. This was taken during the National Anthem at the Inauguration Concert for Barack Obama. Word on the streets (or the local coffee shop I'm at right now) is there were 400,000 in attendance. Most crowded in between the Lincoln and the WWII monument and spread out the sides. I didn't get good photos of the monument or the stage. I was too far away and I'm a little too short to get something good, but I'll pick out the best and post it anyway. It's worth a look, just to get a feel for it. Please feel free to leave constructive comments (positive, negative, indifferent). I think feedback is one of the most important tools anyone can use when engaged in the learning process. You know we see a lot of this on television, and I actually like this crowd shot and I hope you got some more today! 20 Jan 2009 10:41pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesI watched this concert streaming on HBO - and it is so nice to find your intimate black and white view of the festivities. Editorially - I must mention that seeing Pete Seeger leading the faithful in 'This Land is My Land' at the end - was the most wonderful image I've witnessed in years. I hope you'll post many more images, Shrig. Oh how I wish I were there... (oh yes we can, oh yes, we can - can) 20 Jan 2009 11:37pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesI watched this concert streaming on HBO - and it is so nice to find your intimate black and white view of the festivities. I saw a news report today that showed that even a lot of people who had special tickets for viewing the Inauguration ceremonies up close were not allowed where they thought they would be. They were a little angry to say the least and then some just started jumping barricades and climbing fences and such...There was a lot of confusion, fortunately no violence. I'm surprised and happy there wasn't more chaos. With that many people in such a small space chaos usually follows. 21 Jan 2009 4:46am |
