Once Upon a Time...Posted by Shrigley Photography (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States) on 14 August 2007 in Animal & Insect. in a land far (or not so far) away lived a girl who grew up in the country. Fresh air, trees, cows, cats, grass, acres of land, farms, a forest and most importantly, birds that startled easily and flew away at the first sight of a human. Then, this girl moved to a land with not so many trees, no farms to speak of and land that was not free roaming but taken up with buildings and diners. More importantly, she could approach the birds, standing practically a foot away and they would never fly away from her, startled and scared. Well, needless to say, this made the girl rather nervous. Where she came from, one could not be 10 steps away from a bird before the bird took off like a jet. But now, they came 10 steps away from her and she got scared and ran off. So, what did she do to overcome this small fear of birds-too-damn-close-for-her-own-comfort? She took a picture of them. And is happy to report....they still make her a bit nervous. ;) But she lived happily ever after with birds that wouldn't fly away. And they were happy too. Until Tomorrow... Lorraine from CanadaGreat story and neat photo and I don't want to scare you, but far to the right, is that blood? And I understand, behind the lense, I fear nothing :) 14 Aug 2007 1:21pm @Lorraine: Oh no. That's not blood. Those were a few red petals on the ground. It had been rather hot the past few days that a few flowers that were planted there were wilting. Oddly enough, blood doesn't bother me so much. ;) Go figure. Rahul from Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaNice one Shrig, love those peigons and fun story there. LOL!!!! 14 Aug 2007 1:26pm tyan from Singaporethere is a name for phobia of birds!cant rem now...wow,not only do u take good pic you are a great story teller!:) 14 Aug 2007 5:52pm @tyan: Ornithophobia. :) I had to look it up. I can't say that I'm SCARED of birds, I rather like them(esp.sparrows and gold finches) I'm sorry if there was a bit of confusion there. What bugs me is birds in urban areas don't fly away when I approach them, which seems so unnatural to me. I guess you can take the girl out of the country, but not the country out of the girl. ;) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesI love the story. Every good picture should have one. Yours definitely does. I'm smiling. 14 Aug 2007 6:08pm @Viewfinder: Thanks so much, VF.
