Cenral Park "The Gates"

And speaking of Central Park...
In February 2005, there was a huge art display called "The Gates" presented by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. This is one of the pictures that we took when we went there. It was a great time and so crowded. I remember reading in the New York Times that the joggers and regulars couldn't wait for it to leave so they could get their park back ;) . This was a huge, grand event and really made the park perk up with the grey, dreary winter months.
I chose this picture for a few reasons. You can see the art exhibit, the crowd and the horse drawn carriages that roam around the park. You can also find them down places like 5th Avenue.
So perhaps this isn't the most "arty" picture of the city (except the art in the background ;) ) but it's a little bit of everything in one of my favorite places in the city.

Nice shot and I agree with why you chose the picture. I did read about The Gates exhibit in the park and I wanted to see it but unfortunately I do not live in New York City.

The artists involved in that installation came over to melbourne..there was a huge debate on whether spending the huge sums of money they required to paint several trees blue was worth it =) Nice shot and I think you've succeeded in capturing all the elements you sought to incorporate into your shot =D
