I'd never come to such an idea, the result is very interesting, thanks for teaching. The nice thing with this kind of pics is that you have to wipe off "what it realy is" from your mind and just take form and structure as it appears. Something like looking at the letter: "A" without recognizing an "A" but seeing two convergent bars with a small bar connecting it. That's how I perceive it but other views are possible, too.
